People's Livelihoods

The Greater Mukono region's economy is predominantly agricultural, with over 60% of the population engaged in subsistence and commercial farming. Key crops include coffee, bananas, sugarcane, maize and vegetables.

Fishing is a major livelihood, particularly in Buvuma District and along the Lake Victoria shoreline, supporting approximately 18% of households. Small-scale trade, boda-boda transport and informal businesses are growing rapidly in urban areas.
